The heavy vehicle ban is a transit restriction designed to improve traffic flow on highways and outside cities during periods of high traffic. This regulation only affects a specific category of vehicles, namely heavy vehicles weighing over 7.5 tonnes in total. This includes most freight trucks used for road cargo transportation.

When is the heavy vehicle ban active?

The heavy vehicle ban has detailed regulations that are renewed annually, with a constant update of the circulation calendar based on the days when the restriction is in effect. While the periods may undergo variations, heavy vehicles are generally prohibited from traveling on Sundays throughout the year, from 09:00 to 22:00. There are, of course, exceptions to this rule, as well as other days when the ban is in operation, such as December 25th or Easter Sunday.
